This year I will be sharing brief excerpts from the articles, sermons, and books I am currently reading. My posts will not follow a regular schedule but will be published as I find well-written thoughts that should be of interest to maturing Christian readers. Whenever possible, I encourage you to go to the source and read the complete work of the author.

Behind the Curtains: Salvation!

7-deadly-sinsAll human beings are born sinners and enemies of God. (Psalms 51:5, Ephesians 2:3) We merit nothing but God’s wrath. Sin is always at work in us bearing fruit for death. (Romans 7:5) Even if we deny our sinfulness, we simply deceive ourselves. (1 John 1:8) We must change in order to be reconciled to God, but it is not in our power to change.

Praise God! – He has chosen to have mercy on many sinners. He has promised to give us a new heart and spirit. (Ezekiel 36:26-27) Even though we were dead in our sins, God chose to love us. (Ephesians 2:4-5) From eternity, God has chosen for Himself a people; (Romans 8:30) a people born by the Will of God – not man. (John 1:13)

God brings forth His children by the Word of Truth – the Gospel. (James 1:18) God has created a way for us to be reconciled to Him through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6) Jesus died on the cross to atone for our sins. (1 Peter 3:18) When the Gospel is faithfully preached, by grace people are saved through faith – not by human will. Even our faith is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8-9) It is God, through the Holy Spirit, who draws us to Christ. (John 6:44) It is God who opens our hearts to hear His Word. (Acts 16:14)

Those who are appointed to eternal life will believe. (Acts 13:48) Who are those appointed to eternal life? It is anyone who confesses that Jesus is Lord and truly believes that God has raised Him from the dead. They have received the free gift of salvation. (Romans 10:8-9) “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23 ESV)

  1. Everything here is so true! Who is like unto God? We won’t understand until we see Him face to face…

    Good post!
