This year I will be sharing brief excerpts from the articles, sermons, and books I am currently reading. My posts will not follow a regular schedule but will be published as I find well-written thoughts that should be of interest to maturing Christian readers. Whenever possible, I encourage you to go to the source and read the complete work of the author.

Abiding in Jesus’ Love

What Jesus Demands from the WorldJohn Piper:

“Not to abide in Jesus’ love would mean that we stop believing that we are loved by Jesus. We look at our circumstances – perhaps persecution or disease or abandonment – and we conclude that we are not loved by Jesus anymore. That’s the opposite of abiding in the love of Jesus. So abiding in his love means continuing to believe, moment by moment, that we are loved.” (What Jesus Demands from the World)

  1. I agree that the doubt associated with fear over the future is a lack of abiding in God’s Love: He provides for the sparrow, etc. I think we can all draw inspiration from Job- “Though He slay me, yet will I trust him!” We need to be consistent in our trust…to the extent that He is consistent in His love. He is absolutely faithful, even though (sometimes) we are not!
