This year I will be sharing brief excerpts from the articles, sermons, and books I am currently reading. My posts will not follow a regular schedule but will be published as I find well-written thoughts that should be of interest to maturing Christian readers. Whenever possible, I encourage you to go to the source and read the complete work of the author.

Christmas Thoughts

John Huss:

“Rejoice, that the immortal God is born, so that mortal man may live in eternity.”

David Jeremiah:

“All the Christmas presents in the world are worth nothing without the presence of Christ.”

Samuel Johnson:

“The Church does not superstitiously observe days, merely as days, but as memorials of important facts. Christmas might be kept as well upon one day of the year as another; but there should be a stated day for commemorating the birthday of our Savior, because there is danger that what may be done on any day, will be neglected.”

Stuart Briscoe:

“The spirit of Christmas needs to superseded by the Spirit of Christ. The spirit of Christmas is annual; the Spirit of Christ is eternal. The spirit of Christmas is sentimental; the Spirit of Christ is supernatural. The spirit of Christmas is a human product; the Spirit of Christmas is a divine person. That makes all the difference in the world.”

Charles H. Spurgeon:

“The greatest and most momentous fact which the history of the world records is the fact of [Christ’s] birth.”
