Does This Administration Consider Pro-Life Advocates A Greater Threat Than Islamic Terrorists?

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) admitted on February 8th that it had wrongly conducted a threat assessment on pro-life groups. It then admitted to destroying all of the copies of the assessment after an internal review found it violated intelligence gathering guidelines.

The information had been previously shared with the local police in Middleton, Wisconsin where pro-life advocates planned a rally in 2009. An investigation of DHS concluded it acted inappropriately against activities protected by the First Amendment. In 2009, DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano included pro-life activists in a report on domestic terrorism. It appears that this administration believes that using intelligence gathering resources to monitor political opposition to its policies is a higher priority than protecting our citizens from Islamic terrorists.
