    This year I will be sharing brief excerpts from the articles, sermons, and books I am currently reading. My posts will not follow a regular schedule but will be published as I find well-written thoughts that should be of interest to maturing Christian readers. Whenever possible, I encourage you to go to the source and read the complete work of the author.

The Lord Is A Shield

O Lord, how many are my foes!
Many are rising against me;
2 many are saying of my soul,
there is no salvation for him in God. Selah

3 But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head.
4 I cried aloud to the Lord,
and he answered me from his holy hill. Selah

5 I lay down and slept;
I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
6 I will not be afraid of many thousands of people
who have set themselves against me all around.

(Psalm 3)

US Beefing Up Armada In The Persian Gulf (9/10/08)

USS Ronald Reagan

USS Ronald Reagan

According to Dr. Gary North, President Bush is quietly sending a large armada into the Persian Gulf. There has been next to no coverage of this fact.

Two aircraft carrier task forces, the Abraham Lincoln and the Peleliu, are already in the Persian Gulf. A third task force, the Iwo Jima, was dispatched to the Gulf on August 22. The Theodore Roosevelt and the Ronald Reagan are also sailing to the Gulf.

The Theodore Roosevelt was involved in joint naval maneuvers with the French Navy recently. When was the last time this happened? French ships, along with British ships, are accompanying the Theodore Roosevelt to the Gulf. What is going on here? How is this armada going to be used?

Is The Sword Of The Spirit Present On Sunday Morning?

Why do you think we are seeing such conspicuous feebleness in the modern Christian church? Is it a lack of straight talk? Does your pastor speak directly to the hearts of men? Does he name the congregation’s sins and make clear the threat of God’s punishment? Does he tell the truth when it comes to what people really need to hear? Are the hard things spoken with love? As Christians, we must love men enough and be faithful in our witness enough to explain to unbelievers their true state – even to those who are in the church.

There are many walking through the doors of churches every Sunday morning who are not ready to die or face the great judgment. The fact that they are church members and have attended faithfully for twenty years will make no difference when the doors of hell slam closed behind them. The fact that they gave money and taught Sunday School will provide them no comfort there.

Pray to God for holy boldness and anointed preaching to take place every Sunday morning or whenever your church meets. Do not allow the unbelievers in your own church to miss the plain spoken Gospel message while you still have breath to speak.

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13)
